Bubbly fun to pass the time

Just after we received a phone call from Daddy to give us the great news that he wasn’t going to be home in time for the bath, I decided that we really needed to find an activity to pass the time. These long evenings seem to drag on without something quick and easy to fill the time, and also with a meal to prepare I wanted P to play happily and let me get on!

Tesco had a little set I noticed when I was tearing round trying to fill the trolley with healthy goodies (avoiding the chocolate and cake which normally populate my trolley!). Not sure if these sets are available anywhere else but for the bargain price of £3 we got a washing up set, complete with drying rack and sponge!   I pulled 2 chairs up to the sink so that it was a stable platform, and covered P in her little apron.  I put some bubbles in and added a load of corks that I’d been saving (obviously it had taken years of saving the corks as we there is about 50!!!!!) and covered the floor with a plastic table cloth so I didn’t need to mop up!

The result was 45minutes of a happy playing soggy child and a lovely casserole bubbling away in the oven.  P loved putting all the bits and pieces in and out of the water and then serving up a plate of cork for me to eat.  P was learning the words spoon, fork and knife whilst she was doing it too which was a bonus!  An ideal activity for when trying to get a quick job done with next to no preparation and only a wet child ready to be thrown straight in the bath!
